I was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1964. I attended college at Brigham Young University
and Idaho State University. I received a Bachelor of Arts in 1993 from Brigham Young University in Provo,
Utah, and a Juris Doctor in 1995 from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California.
In my last semester of law school, I clerked for San Diego Superior Court judges, The Honorable Sheridan
Reed and The Honorable Wayne Peterson.
Following law school, I opened a law partnership in La Jolla, California, Dillon & Monson,
LLP. We provided counseling and representation in Estate Planning, Entertainment & Sports Law, Civil Litigation,
and General Business matters.
In 1997, I went in-house with KEA Environmental in San Diego, California. At KEA, I provided
legal support with contracts, office policies, risk assessment and liability protection, environmental impact reports, statements,
and assessments, and corporate strategic planning.
In 1999, I returned to private practice as an associate attorney with The Law Offices of Carol
L. Cavanaugh, a family law practice in San Diego, California.
In September of 2000, I returned to Idaho and worked as a law clerk for Seventh Judicial District
Judge, Jon Shindurling, while preparing for the Idaho State Bar exam.
After obtaining my Idaho license in April of 2001, I took a position with the Bonneville County
Prosecuting Attorney's Office as a Deputy Prosecutor. I prosecuted misdemeanor and felony criminal cases,
gaining criminal jury trial experience.
In 2003, I left the Prosecuting Attorney's office to open my own office. I opened my practice in
July of 2003.
